Alt-rock, post-rock and punk rock are three great genres of music, and there are a ton of fresh new releases each week. However, it is pretty hard to keep track of these releases when you don’t know where to look. That’s what this playlist is for. If you want nothing more than some new tunes to add to your music library then you have come to the right place.
There is a new music scene that has been growing steadily over the past few years. It’s called Alt Rock Culture, and it’s finally taking off. The post-rock music of this scene has been gaining more attention from fans than ever before, and that’s why we’ve put together this playlist with some of our favourite songs from artists who are making waves in the punk-rock scene.
Alt Rock Culture can be hard to define because it includes so many different types of music and influences. But if you look at it closely, you’ll see that there are some common themes: a love for alternative rock, an interest in post-rock sounds, and a spirit of rebellion against mainstream culture.
The artists featured in this playlist have all been influenced by these trends, but they each take them in their own direction as well—which means you get a mix of sounds that will keep your ears engaged and refreshed!
You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.
1) BETAGEIST – Together
The music of BETAGEIST combines ambient, progressive, cinematic and psychedelic elements. Composing to tell a story and evoke emotion, he strives to bridge the gap between synth-based and guitar-based instrumental genres.
“Together” is an epic, emotional 8-minute ride inspired by one of those stunningly realistic dreams about being reunited with a loved one who has passed away – and hopefully that is reflected in the ethereal guitar and synth textures of the song.
It feels haunting and melancholic, but it is also profound and energizing at the same time. ”This is a rare track that just came to me and basically wrote itself.” – Said Betageist
Overall I would recommend checking out this track if you like post-rock/electronic/cinematic/instrumental music or want something to listen to while working or studying. If you want more tracks like this one by BETAGEIST, I would suggest visiting his website, and following him on Spotify!
2) OLD MAN CLAN – Somebody Stole My Name
‘Old Man Clan‘ is an alternative, ambient blues artist that is textured and full of heart. This is his second EP, which is a good bit more accessible and polished than his first. The spaces he creates create an environment where listeners and followers are able to find their own words.
Old Man Clan is Matt Simpson. These are his scars, his joy, and his hope, which mark his journey. In these spaces, you will find your own story reflected in a variety of ways.
His EP, Somebody Stole My Name, is a collection of songs that are sure to get you in the mood for some good times. The EP has a cinematic feel with instrumentals that make you feel like you’re watching a movie.
I think my favourite song from this album is ‘Oh Michael, Look at Your Knees’ – the pivot of the album – inspired by the desire to make amends when we are torn between duty and wants, the conversing guitar lines carry their own conversation with each other throughout.
The EP Somebody Stole My Name is available now on Spotify, make sure you visit to hear more tracks from this incredible UK-based artist.
3) ALEC BERLIN – LaNoise
If you’re looking for easy listening and a classic rock soundtrack, then look no further than the single “LaNoise” by Alec Berlin.
Taking inspiration from the warm, familiar grooves of legendary producer Daniel Lanois, “LaNoise” will take you on a trip in comfort and style – all without having to leave the comfort of your front porch or leave your favourite guitar, a cold beverage, and the comfort of your chair.
The song is an instrumental piece that draws on the sounds of soft rock and rhythm and blues, with a little bit of blues mixed in for good measure. It’s the perfect song to relax to or to play while you’re preparing dinner. The instrumental track is straightforward and easy to follow, with a catchy rhythm that will get stuck in your head after just one listen.
This banger is the perfect song to get your morning started right or to unwind after work. With its catchy beat and fun riffs, it will have you jamming along before you know it! follow him on Spotify, and visit his website!
4) JANE N’ THE JUNGLE – Raw As A Jewel
Jane N’ The Jungle again with a new single “Raw As A Jewel,” and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for. The song is the perfect combination of rock and pop, mixed together with a little bit of heavy metal. The guitar riffs are strong and powerful, while the vocals are smooth and melodic.
A combination of alternative rock, metal, and a touch of punk inspires the vocals on Jane N’ The Jungle, a modern rock band from Phoenix, AZ.
Raw As A Jewel is all about giving in to your desires and bearing it all with reckless abandon. This band dares listeners to follow their hearts with a song about love and second chances. This song is inspired by the band’s feeling of rebirth and restless desire to pursue their wildest dreams.
The vocalist has an incredibly strong voice that makes me feel like she could sing anything and make it sound good; her range is impressive, too! The rest of the band also brings their A-game, creating an atmosphere that feels like it could have come straight out of an old rock club in New York City.
The music video is also great! A lot of dancing, effects and production to top it all off, I think you should check it out! Visit their website and follow them on Spotify!
5) THE ONE TONIC – We Can’t Fail
The One Tonic is a band that has been making waves in the Salt Lake City alternative rock scene, and they’re not slowing down any time soon. The band’s newest single, “We Can’t Fail,” is a perfect example of their signature sound: a fusion of dark wave and synth indie rock with industrial metal, dubstep, and anthemic elements.
There are times when people give up when they are so close to a breakthrough they don’t realize it. Never back down is the theme of this song. It is impossible to fail as long as we keep getting back up.
A track with this level of clarity and crispness is not overproduced or polished to the point where it becomes dull. Having instrumental breakdowns to break up the songs at the appropriate time adds a great deal of variety to the songs without feeling forced or extraneous.
I highly recommend checking out their website where you can also find links to their social media profiles so you can stay up-to-date on what’s going on with them. You should also follow them on Spotify if you want to hear more songs from this awesome band!
6) SECRET LUNG – Phantom Limbs
SECRET LUNG is one of the best independent bands in Australia. The single “Phantom Limbs” is a banger that you can’t help but sing along to and it’s super catchy.
Secret Lung has come out swinging with their debut release. Phantom Limbs is loud and full of biting guitar lines, but its core is a stirring, melancholy chorus with memorable hooks. The epic climax culminates in the arguments between guitarist Jess Porter and bassist Brycey, opposing halves of a fractured partnership.
Even though Secret Lung has only recently begun performing live, their live show is anything but unseasoned since the members have been in multiple bands. As a trio, they combined their love of punk rock, emo, indie, and blues into a wall of sound bigger than the sum of their parts.
If you haven’t heard of SECRET LUNG yet then make sure you check them out! Their website has links where you can know more about them, and follow them on Spotify so go ahead and give it a listen!
