Shannon Hawley is a singer-songwriter from Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She has been described as an “alt-pop powerhouse” whose music is a mixture of dreamy ethereal vocals and synth-pop perfection.

With the synth layers along with her clear voice and folk-rooted storytelling, this hybrid sounds sometimes anthemic, always cinematic, and somehow intimate – piercing directly into the heart of the listener.
With a touch of New Jersey Springsteen-like roots and songwriting, her sound and songwriting have been compared to Florence and the Machine, Kate Bush, and Fiona Apple.
As a piece of song autobiography, STARTHROWERS pays homage to the women, caretakers, and ancestors who have bravely fulfilled the difficult and often overlooked task of fiercely loving and caring for people, connecting the world in the way of underground mycelium networks, and honouring the earth itself.

‘To gentle giant’ is a new album by SULIIAN, a project by Swiss artist Jan Saurer that appears to be one of the finest albums of its generation.
With tracks ranging from the dreamy introspection of ‘finder river’ to the pulsing bedroom pop of ‘how to never be ok’, gentle giant is an album loaded with emotion and atmosphere.
The song is a beautiful mix of soft rock and euphoric electronica that will have you swaying in your seat. It’s easy to get lost in the music and forget about everything else around you for a moment or two.
“For the album, often I combined two songs together,” Jan says. “If I had an idea or a note or a short sketch, I combined it with a song where I think it would fit. In songs like “fallenn” that results in just a nice outro, but on songs like “finder river” or “summer rain feels like happy crying”

Men don’t realise when they walk out on their family how much hurt, fear and upset they leave behind and how confused and useless kids feel in this situation. Played slightly off key to make the song dark!” – Stated Mick.

My Place Or Your Place!? We have all been there at some point in our lives! A song about falling in love with a girl you shouldn’t have fallen in love with but not regretting it in the slightest!
This song is definitely a foot-tapper and feel-good tune, and it definitely pops off live as well, as it is a real jangling pop-rock gem.
The vocals are smooth and the lyrics are fun to sing along with; you can’t help but feel like you’re listening to something that’s going to be stuck in your head all day long!

9) MORT JARDIN – Delay Decay
If you’re looking for something a little different, check out MORT JARDIN. This alternative rock band is based in Lymm, UK, and they’re doing some of the best work out there right now.
Their latest album Delay Decay is an excellent example of their style—dark and moody but with a hint of hope in every song. Torture, fear, terror, claustrophobia, suffocation, and escape are all part of this story. It was a restless night for Mort Jardin.
In Mort Jardin’s fever dream narrative, post-punk, neo-psych, jazz, swing, blues, and blues infused with a mixture of reverberant, fractured guitar layers are layered over layered drum loops and low-slung basslines to create an orchestration of fractured and reverberating sounds.
MORT JARDIN’s sound is best described as dark and brooding, with heavy guitars and deep bass lines. The album has a gloomy feel that’s perfect for rainy days or late nights alone in your room—and it will make you feel like you’re in control of your own world!
Delay Decay is available now on Spotify or you can check his website also! Check out our entire playlist which this artist and some other great are included!

10) JEFFERSON DENIM – Life In The Absolute Uncertain
Jefferson Denim is an independent artist from the United States, and his music is best described as folktronica. His EP, Life In The Absolute Uncertain, is a wonderful blend of acoustic rock with indie melodic pop/rock and indie pop.
For most of Jefferson Denim’s adult life, he has been a professional actor and musician, much to the chagrin of his father, who is a professional NFL player.
It is, therefore, safe to say that JD is all about identifying, articulating and advocating for the struggles of people (especially the marginalized ones) and using the arts as a tool to illuminate and advocate.
Humanity is a vast and varied species that is endlessly fascinating, and the human condition is no exception. As well as addressing various aspects of the human condition from the perspective of someone who is suffering from chronic depression.
As well as reemerging from the extreme fundamentalist religious mindset in which they had been raised, “Life in The Absolute Uncertain” examines a variety of aspects of the human condition.
If you enjoy what you hear on this EP, I highly suggest checking out Jefferson Denim’s other work on Spotify, and visiting his website, because he has lots more great music! Check out our entire playlist which this artist and some other great are included!
