Twelve Days in June releasing Hiraeth
Twelve Days in June brings back the golden era of 90s rock with their new album ‘Hiraeth’, setting the stage for grunge and indie rock lovers.
Twelve Days in June, hailing from Schenectady, NY, has blessed the music scene with their undeniable prowess in 90’s rock. Their new album, ‘Hiraeth’, is a testament to their mastery in alternative rock and grunge. Set for release on October 18, 2024, this 13-song album is a bold, guitar-forward creation that echoes the familiar nostalgia of the 90s.
As music curators at PopHits.Co, we are thrilled to highlight the brilliance of ‘Hiraeth’. “Every track on ‘Hiraeth’ is a journey through the heart of 90’s rock, beautifully produced by Ben Hirschfield, blending elements of shoegaze, dream pop, and indie rock seamlessly,” we noted.

It’s a loud and ambitious follow-up to last year’s ‘La Luna’, and it’s designed to make you feel the weight and intensity of every track. You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artist’s music, and know more about the artist’s work by scrolling down the page.

Influences from legendary bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and The Foo Fighters are evident throughout the album. Tracks like “Numb”, “The Sea Is A Wishing Well”, and “Cognitive Distortion” serve as powerful tributes to the 90s alternative rock scene. They transport listeners back to the days when grunge and indie rock reigned supreme, holding a unique place in the hearts of music lovers.

The motivation behind Twelve Days in June’s sound is profoundly personal and intentional. “When I first started writing songs back in the mid-90s, it was sort of in protest to the changing landscape of post-Nirvana alternative rock,” said Dave Hulegaard. “Most of my favorite bands had either broken up or had drastically changed their sound, and I was sad about it. With the millennium on the horizon, I wasn’t ready to leave the 90s behind, and Twelve Days in June was my way of keeping them alive. I guess that’s still true today.” This sentiment is palpable in every track of ‘Hiraeth’, making it an album that isn’t just heard but felt deeply.

Produced by the esteemed Ben Hirschfield, who has worked with acts like Present, The Story So Far, and Against Me!, ‘Hiraeth’ is sonically rich and emotionally resonant. Songs like “Bittersweet Season” and “Planned Obsolescence” delve into themes of grief, isolation, nihilism, and mortality. Hulegaard describes it as “a big and loud sonic juggernaut that explores themes of grief, isolation, nihilism, and mortality, like one long therapy session. Crank it up and buckle up!”
