It’s hard to keep track of all the great independent music that comes out month after month. Like a child who is distracted by shiny objects, we get lost in them all.
There is so much to look forward to with indie rock that sometimes you have no choice but to take your eye off specific releases.
We’ve made it our mission this month, however, to listen to the freshest tunes to give you the best ideas for new songs to add to your own playlists
The reason we love Rock is that this music genre is the most influencing type for the younger generation, whether for entertainment or self-development purposes.
It is young enough to still care about youth issues, but at the same time, it talks about things that affect all generations. It also mixes with different music genres and turns into something different every year.
Generally, music is an art that never stops evolving. With the growth and diversification of the music industry, artisans continue to create new forms of music which broaden our taste in music.
That said, we’ve released a fresh playlist to explore this trend and share some new tunes with our audience and community. You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.
1) LOST FISHES – Rising Day
If you’ve been looking for an alternative rock band with a fresh sound, LOST FISHES might be what you’re looking for.
The single Rising Day is a great example of their style: it’s full of energy and emotion, and it has a distinct garage rock feel that will make any listener want to get up and move. The vocals are strong and clear, with just the right amount of grit. You notice a deep voice in the beginning, but clear and very enjoyable.
It’s easy to see why this band has been so successful in Spain—the music is catchy and fun, but there’s also something deeper going on here that makes it stand out from other bands in its genre. You can tell that they’re singing from experience—they’ve lived through everything they sing about.
That authenticity is one of the reasons why I love this band so much; they make me feel like I’m listening in on a conversation between old friends who aren’t afraid to tell each other what’s really going on inside their heads.
They have an honest approach to making music that feels real—and even though it sounds very different from what most people are used to hearing these days. Let’s check it out, visit the artist’s YouTube and follow on Spotify.
2) BLUEPRINT TOKYO – Cinema Sounds
Blueprint Tokyo is an indie pop/rock band from Oklahoma City, and they just released a new EP called Cinema Sounds.
The EP has three tracks, but each one is so good that you’ll want to listen to the whole thing over and over again.
The first track, “Say Anything”, is like a mini-movie in itself—it starts off with a synth melody that sounds like it was pulled straight out of an 80s movie soundtrack and then gets louder and more intense as the song progresses. The chorus is super catchy—you’ll find yourself singing along before you know it!
The second track, “LaRusso”, starts off with a similar synth melody as the first track but then switches up into something completely different: pulsing drums and guitar riffs that are reminiscent of The Cure or even Tears for Fears. It’s not as catchy as “Say Anything” but it’s still really good—I found myself listening to this one multiple times before moving on to track 3!
The third track on the EP is called “Sailor Girl” which is exactly what it sounds like: rock music with indie influences. This one definitely has some 80s vibes fused in a love song. Really, this EP is a time travel. Check it out, visit the artist’s website and follow on Spotify.
3) BETTY REED – Shallow End
The singer-songwriter Betty Reed is one of the most promising artists to come out of the United States in a long time. Her single “Shallow End” is an indie pop song with a classic sound and contemporary pop influences.
Betty Reed is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been performing since she was young, and has been releasing great music, some with a very personal touch. We noticed that Betty’s musical style is influenced by artists like Kate Bush, Dusty Springfield, and Joni Mitchell.
“Shallow End” is a soft rock song with an indie pop feel and a classic sound. The song is relaxing, mellow, and easy to listen to—perfect for those who enjoy relaxing after work or on the weekend!
As mentioned by the artist, The song “Shallow End” depicts the complex and conflicting emotions the singer experienced while suffering from depression. Essentially, she said that depression isn’t like being at the deep end of a pool trying not to drown. It’s more of a sense that she is floundering at the shallow end and there is an easy way to rescue herself. It is only a matter of standing up for her. In spite of this, she noted that it is challenging to function with a malfunctioning brain.
If you’re looking for something new to listen to, with a very deep emotional and personal touch, try out Betty Reed’s “Shallow End”! Check it out, visit the artist’s website and follow on Spotify.
4) LL GROOVE BAND – Mister M
Ireland’s indie scene is a diverse and exciting one, full of young bands and artists who are carving out their own paths. One such band is LL GROOVE BAND, who recently released the single “Mister M” to great acclaim.
If you’re into alt-rock, pop, alternative, rock, funk and jazz with a touch of blues and rhythm and blues, then you’ll love their new single.
Mister M is a great song that perfectly blends the groovy bassline with the strong drums and guitar riffs. The vocals are mellow yet powerful at the same time. You can hear influences from different genres but it still sounds fresh and new.
The lyrics are catchy and easy to sing along to! This song will definitely get stuck in your head for days! The lyrics are reminiscent of older songs by artists like David Bowie or Elton John: they’re thought-provoking but relatable at the same time. You’ll find yourself singing along before you know it!
If you’re looking for something different from the mainstream rock or pop artists currently dominating the charts, give this song a listen! It’s sure to be your new favourite jam! Check it out, visit the artist’s YouTube and follow on Spotify.
5) CHRIS NORMAN – Always On My Mind
Chris Norman‘s new single, “Always On My Mind,” is a cover of the classic song by Elvis Presley. It’s a soft rock song that you can’t help but sing along to, even if you don’t know the words.
Chris’ version is a beautiful reimagining of the song. He shows off his soft rock vocals in this track as he croons over an acoustic guitar accompaniment. The song starts out slow but builds up into something dramatic and powerful: it’s sure to get stuck in your head!
Chris Norman was raised on the archetypal sounds of Little Richard, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. In his latest album ‘Rediscovered Love Songs’, he pays tribute to the king himself.
There are 12 of the biggest ballads and love songs ever written, including songs by The Temptations, Elvis Presley, and Roy Orbison. Featuring a cover of Elvis Presley’s classic and the lead single ‘Always On My Mind’, the album was released in October 2022. Here are some songs that are ready for you to add to your playlist.
It’s great to see Chris taking a risk with this new release—and we’re so glad he did! We can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us next year! Check out his new single on Spotify now, follow him and visit his website to stay updated.
6) GALACTIC FUZZ – Transparent
If you’re on the hunt for a new band to listen to, look no further than GALACTIC FUZZ. The trio is based out of Las Vegas, and they’ve been making waves in the indie rock scene for some years. Their recent single, Transparent, is one of those songs that makes you feel like you’re floating on air.
It’s hard to pin down exactly what genre GALACTIC FUZZ fits into—they have elements of grunge and psychedelic rock and alternative rock mixed with catchy melodies and amazing male vocals that are reminiscent of classic US indie bands from the 90s. But no matter what genre it is, Transparent is a super catchy track that you’ll want to blast on repeat all day long.
The producers from PopHits.Co who were listening to GALACTIC FUZZ portfolio described their sound as “a little bit grunge, a little bit psychedelic rock, a little bit folk-rock and melodic pop,” which sounds right up our alley!
But if we had to pick one word for their vibe? It would be “nostalgic.” This song reminds us of the good old days when we used to drive around with our friends blasting music from our cars’ speakers—and it feels like those days are coming back! Check it out, visit the artist’s website and follow on Spotify.
7) I’VE TRIED SLEEPING – Some Kind Of Mother
I’VE TRIED SLEEPING is an indie rock band based in Spokane, Washington. Their single Some Kind Of Mother was released last month, and this is what we think about it. If you’re looking for a band whose songs are full of raw emotion and power while still being soft, then this is the artist for you!
The first thing that struck us about Some Kind Of Mother was the classic sound of it, but with a modern twist. The song has an alternative rock vibe that makes you want to move your feet and sway your body while you listen to those beautiful male vocals. The lyrics are catchy and easy to follow along with as well—you’ll be singing along before you know it!
The instrumentation is also fantastic—we love how they use all kinds of instruments from different styles to create one cohesive song. This helps keep things interesting throughout the entire track without ever losing focus on what makes it special: the vocals!
We would definitely recommend checking out I’VE TRIED SLEEPING’s other songs on Spotify or visiting their website for more information about them. You can also follow them there and visit their website if you’re interested in seeing what else they’ve got planned for the future!
8) ATOMIC BRONCO – Foolish Games
Atomic Bronco‘s new single, Foolish Games, is a song you’ll want to listen to on repeat. It’s a classic rock style that blends garage rock with indie and soul influences, with lyrics that are almost hypnotic in their quality.
The band’s sound is reminiscent of bands like The Strokes or The War on Drugs, but has its own distinct quality—it’s hard to describe what makes it so great. It’s retro rock style at its best.
The single was released weeks ago and will probably be part of the band’s upcoming album. Atomic Bronco’s sound has been described as “slacker rock,” which refers to bands who are more concerned with having fun than being popular. This attitude can be heard in Foolish Games too.
The band is from Austin, Texas and has been active for some years. Their portfolio is diverse is right there, just waiting for you.
In short, their music combines elements from different genres into one cohesive whole—and does so perfectly! If you’re looking for something more garage rock, fun and catchy but also musically adventurous, “Foolish Games” will not disappoint! Check it out, visit the artist’s website and follow on Spotify.
9) TJ DOYLE – (Let Your Light) Shine
If you’re a fan of soft rock, then you’ll love TJ Doyle. The artist is a singer-songwriter from the United States, based out of Altadena, California. He’s been making waves with his new single, “(Let Your Light) Shine”, which has been compared to the Beatles and Soft Rock bands from the past.
The song is a beautiful blend of pop and retro-rock that will have you swaying to the beat. It’s got a nice blend of male vocals and harmonies that make it easy to listen to without being too overpowering or nasal.
The lyrics are uplifting and positive without being too cheesy – they focus on letting your light shine through in all aspects of life, whether it’s romantic relationships or just being yourself at work or school.
The production quality is good as well – you can tell that this was created by someone who knows what they’re doing when it comes to traditional indie rock production and values for music.
Ultimately, if you enjoy soft rock like retro pop, old-school style, and singer-songwriters, then this song is definitely worth checking out! You can listen on Spotify, also follow the artist and visit his website.
10) APAOLO – Chase The Sun
It’s no secret that the indie rock scene is alive and well. The music has been coming out of the underground for years, and it has finally become mainstream enough to get its own dedicated festival in Austin.
The latest artist to hit the big time is APAOLO, a Cincinnati-based alternative pop punk rock act that just released his single “Chase The Sun” on Spotify.
This song is a prime example of what happens when you mix emo with pop punk—you get something that sounds like it came straight out of an 80s movie soundtrack!
This song has everything you want in a good rock-pop song: catchy lyrics, an incredible beat, and a great vocalist who will have you singing along with him before you even realize it.
The only thing missing from this song is more guitar solos—but don’t worry, there are plenty of songs coming on his next projects that have those too! Check out his social networks, follow him on Spotify for updates on when his next single drops, and visit the artist’s SoundCloud!
