A Nostalgic but Still New, View of a Hit Song Starts Excitement
Star Vision, a project by Scott van Dort, creates excitement with a fresh release, ‘Running with the Night‘. It is a take on Lionel Richie‘s song. The version has guitar and synth sounds within a song by Richie with Cynthia Weil. The piece keeps to the meaning of the song as it makes the energy higher with Star Vision’s mix of AOR and rock-pop from the 1980s. Jimmy Konsta, a guitarist for the German progressive metal group We Are Legend, plays guitar for this song.
Konsta uses ideas from musicians like David Gilmour, Gary Moore, Santana, Brian May, Marty Friedman as well as Joe Satriani. He adds skill and feeling within his playing. Check out the playlist, which features music of the 80’s and rock.
A Celebration of Yesterday’s Music
The single comes after Star Vision’s 2024, which had the EP, ‘Four More Reasons Why’. Stefan Boman (Roxette, Opeth, Kent) mixed it and Tony Lindgren (Billie Eilish, Opeth, Sepultura) did mastering. Star Vision performed in 2024 and played at the afterparty for the Malmö Melodic Festival. People from many countries were present to enjoy AOR and rock with Perfect Plan, DARE, Ronnie Atkins next to Remedy.
For van Dort, ‘Running with the Night’ shows respect for the music that was important when he was young. He said:
“Hearing this song last year, for the first time in decades, transported me back to the ’80s and ’90s. I immediately envisioned a version where guitars and synths took the lead, bringing a fresh yet nostalgic take on this classic”.
Star Vision’s version of ‘Running with the Night’ arrived on March 21, 2025, on all platforms. The release shows the appeal of 80’s rock music, now new for listeners. A good way to see the skill present within the piece involves listening to the music of people like David Gilmour, Gary Moore and Brian May, who made a path for artists similar to Star Vision.
