For fans of alt-country and indie folk, Seattle-based singer-songwriter Rusty Reid‘s Corner of My Mind single is a must-listen.
If you’re looking for fresh, new artists to follow, you can’t go wrong with Rusty Reid. This American singer-songwriter hails from Texas originally, but now resides in the Pacific Northwest, and is known for his genre-hopping style (indie folk, pop, country, rock, and soul).
One of his recent albums, “Bayou Line (Songs From Houston)” is a beautiful collection that showcases both his songwriting and vocal talents—we could listen to him all day long!

Rusty Reid has just released his third album “Bayou Line” weeks ago, which includes some of the top players from the worlds of Seattle, Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York, as well as other places as far away as Sao Paolo and Berlin.
There is no doubt that you will enjoy this first single: “Corner of My Mind.” It’s a dreamy, philosophical song about a lost love (with a flashback trip to Ireland thrown in for good measure).
The song is classic and timeless—it’s easy to imagine it being played on the radio in the ’90s or ’80s. The instrumentation is simple but powerful: a guitar strumming over a steady bass line and drum beat. This allows Reid’s vocals to shine through, which they do in the form of an easy, confident croon that feels like a throwback to another era.
This song is classic alt-country with a modern twist: its ’90s rock sound makes it perfect for both relaxing and dancing around your living room—it’s easy listening that will put you in a good mood no matter what kind of day you’re having.
Two other tracks, which have also been selected by our curators for their attention, are More Than St Johns’ and My Troubles Have Just Begun. The first song is for sure a good option for your soft rock playlist; it has a soothing melody and you are sure to feel relaxed after listening to it.
In the second song, My Troubles Have Just Begun, you’ll dance like there’s no tomorrow to a mix of folk-rock and country. There are 17 tracks on this album, which provides a diverse variety of sounds but can create a complete weekend party with just one record. Look Out Lousiana is a particular highlight on the album’s list of uplifting songs.
I guarantee that if you give this one a listen, many of this album’s tracks will be stuck in your head for days! I didn’t regret checking it out, I’m sure you wouldn’t too, visit his website, follow his Spotify and our playlist also!
