Released some weeks ago from Los Angeles-based indie rock outfit Ruto is a great addition to any bedtime playlist or anyone who’s looking for some guitar-dreamy mellow vibes.
Ruto actually brought us a 10-track gem of guitar dreamy and lo-fi-inspired sound.
Initially, having glimpsed his previous releases, such as the single Si Lo Sientes — outfitted with that dreamy guitar and the mesmerizing voice of the artist, I couldn’t help but notice similarities to some other well-known acts like Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) or even John Lennon at times.
As I delved deeper into Pan Dulce, I found out it was going to be a very different album from what I had originally thought — especially after listening to songs like “Mundos Entre Mundos”, which was a very positive surprise.
Despite its name, track number nine carries a number of universal themes and a calm and relaxing melody. It’s not rocky as expected but still enjoyable to listen to.

Let’s face it — we’re very fortunate to live in a time when independently created and distributed music can reach the masses.
There has never been a more diverse or democratic platform for musicians to get their music out there and into listeners’ ears. Ruto is no exception.
The artist had the main purpose and achieved it, for sure! His goal was to create a pop rock with a lo-fi aesthetic that would also draw from genres like shoegaze, folk and psych rock.
This album was the result of an incredible collaboration between artists from a variety of different mediums.
The music and visuals were all created by a group of LA natives and locals as they had been working together for a long time.
It is evident from the music and artwork that a variety of introspective thoughts have been brought together to create an explosion of colour and sound.
In his songs, Ruto is able to explore a variety of emotions, from sombre melodies to anthemic ballads that range from dream pop, bedroom pop, indie rock, and soul in their various forms.
In fact, the sound of the diverse tones fused together in a manner to create a genre of its own ripe with the sounds from a wide range of influences that contributed to the creation of this music.
