The journey of Canning began in the 2000s, right in the heart of Chicago. Their mission? To craft songs that ebb and flow with the energies of the day. This dynamic approach is especially evident in “State Of Mind,” a track penned by Ricky Canning during a reflective time in Roma. The spontaneity of life in Roma breathed an uplifting spirit into the song, with aromas, sounds, and experiences all combining to create a piece filled with vitality and optimism.
The essence of “State Of Mind” lies in its celebration of the new and its potential to usher in a brighter future while subtly addressing the old. This is rock music at its finest—carrying a message without compromising on the sheer joy of the sound. Canning’s recording process is equally remarkable; they lay down the basics together in the same room as a live band, preserving the real-time banter and energy in the final mix. This, in turn, fosters a genuine and organic feel to their tracks, making every listen a fresh experience.
Tracking and editing their music in their own studio before sending it off for professional mixing and mastering ensures that Canning maintains control over their sound. This micro and macro management within their workflow beautifully balances creativity and technical precision. The result? A sound that’s both polished and brimming with raw, unfiltered energy.
For those eager to immerse themselves in the world of Canning, “State Of Mind” is more than just a song—it’s an invitation to experience life with a rock ‘n’ roll twist.
