Gemmell has been working the Americana vein for numerous years, his music often drawing inspiration from folk, rock, country, and most recently, psychedelic influences. These elements coalesce beautifully in “Slowtown,” a track that paints a vivid picture of a summer night in San Luis Obispo where time seems to stand still. The journey from dusk to an uncertain neon dawn is portrayed with textured guitar sounds, raspy vocals, and profound storytelling. “I wanted to capture the essence of that night,” says Gemmell. “The swirl of light and sound and beauty.”
