If you’re like us, you love to discover great independent artists from around the world that you’ve never heard of. You know the feeling: maybe it is the relaxing voice or the unusual beats or the exciting lyrics of a song that gets your attention.
Art really is in the eye of the beholder, but some art is so good that it deserves all of your attention. We wrote this piece, to pay tribute to the great indie rock music, and independent artists, around the world, that we believe are part of a rich community and deserve to be heard.
Well, I’m sure you’ve listened to some mighty fine indie music in your lifetime. Maybe some solid rock praise or something else that makes you tremble with joy. Maybe something along the lines of alternative, garage rock and roll jams or some bands that are so indie they just can’t be put on the radio.
The fact that the Internet provides us with so many opportunities is what makes it amazing. There are a lot of things to discover and people to follow and we have all these amazing tools for publishing stuff as well, which doesn’t necessarily mean written articles but photos, songs, videos, playlists, blogs and so much more.
People from around the globe are now banding together and voicing themselves in ways we’ve never witnessed before in human history. We live at an exciting time where anything is possible, that’s for sure. 1) SNAKEDOCTORS – Too Many (Feat. Christine Corless)
Alternative rock, grunge, indie melodic pop rock, post-punk and 90s rock style music are just a few of the genres and sub-genres we’ve been listening to lately. We’ve been listening to great artists’ music and one of them is the band SNAKEDOCTORS‘ new single called Too Many.
You may have never heard of them in the US or UK before because they are based in Gdansk, Poland. They are an alternative rock band that started releasing music on Spotify back in 2020 and by their music style, we can say they were inspired by Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam type artists.
Their single “Too Many” features Christine Corless on vocals, and it’s pure grunge goodness. The lyrics will stick with you long after you’ve listened; they’re complex and thought-provoking but still easy to relate to. The music is strong enough to stand on its own without needing words—but when they come together, they create something truly special with male and female vocals.
We believe that this band is worth listening to and including on your playlist, so if you haven’t checked them out yet then we highly recommend it, watch their music video and follow the band on Spotify!
2) BLUE ORCHID REACTION – Personal Revolution
BLUE ORCHID REACTION is a new band that brings back the classic sounds of garage rock, a kind of indie 90’s rock. With their single Personal Revolution, they prove that you don’t need to be big to be great.
With a classic blend of male vocals and guitar riffage, BLUE ORCHID REACTION has the sound of a rock band straight out of the 1990s. Their garage-rock style gives off vibes of The Strokes and The Killers, while still maintaining a modern edge.
The band is based in Leeds,, and the nostalgic British feel of their music makes it easy to get lost in the beat and forget about your worries for a little while.
BLUE ORCHID REACTION’s single Personal Revolution is available now on Spotify, so check it out, watch their indie music video and follow the band!
3) ARCHWAYS – Phoenix Rising
ARCHWAYS is a new indie rock band that just dropped their debut single, Phoenix Rising. The band is based in the United Kingdom, London, and ARCHWAYS’ sound has been described as “an exciting mix of indie pop and rock.”
We’re excited to tell you about them! The song is super catchy and melodic pop-rock with a dash of new wave thrown in for good measure—and we can’t get enough! It’s one of those songs that you listen to over and over again because it’s so good.
We’ve been playing it on repeat all day and the producers of PopHits.Co included this song on their personal playlist. The song itself has some interesting elements: it starts off with a slow beat that builds into an upbeat melody with a nice guitar riff.
The vocals are melodic and catchy, but there’s also something about them that feels like they could be from another era—like they belong on an oldies station (in a good way).
If you like this kind of music (and who doesn’t?), then check out ARCHWAYS’ Spotify and follow the band.
4) MORTAL PROPHETS – Stomp The Devil
When it comes to independent music, there’s no shortage of it. The only problem is that sometimes you have to sift through a lot of stuff and get lost. That’s why we’re here to help you find a variety of artists from different subgenres of indie rock music—and this week, we’re highlighting Mortal Prophets representing the dark wave subgenre.
Mortal Prophets is an American band based in New York City that has been making waves with its blend of alternative rock, dark wave style, and cinematic influences. Their latest single Stomp the Devil is a prime example of their sound: It combines elements of soft dark rock with cinematic elements and more into one cohesive track that will grab your attention!
The song is dark and moody with a touch of gothic undertones that make it perfect for rainy days or any time you want to play with your emotions. The vocals are delivered with a husky, gravelly timbre that makes them stand out from other bands in the same genre. Check it out on Spotify—and don’t forget to follow them!
5) SICK JOKES – The Great Hereafter
It’s time for metal rock. SICK JOKES is a new indie rock band based in Austin, TX. They released their single “The Great Hereafter” weeks ago and it’s available on all major streaming platforms.
The single starts off with a slow-burning industrial metal intro that gives way to a mosh-worthy anthem. The band has been described as “industrial metal with an electronic dark pop twist and hardcore rap-rock”.
The mix is big but what makes it interesting is the harmony between heavy drums and male vocals with anthemic dark wave beats.
If you dig bands like System of a Down, Linkin Park and Rage Against the Machine, then you’ll love this track. It’s got everything you love about hard and metal rock—the mosh-worthy choruses and heavy guitar riffs—but with more than enough originality to keep it from feeling derivative. Check it out and follow the band on Spotify!
6) BIRDEATSBABY – Ribbons
If you’re looking for a new dark-progressive rock band to follow, look no further than Birdeatsbaby. The London and Brighton-based alternative group have been gaining traction with their latest single, Ribbons, which is out now on Spotify.
The band draws influence from a number of genres, including alternative rock, with gothic style, metal, prog rock and a lot of British influences. While the band’s sound has evolved over time, it has retained its signature melodic quality and beautiful female vocals.
As the first track from their occult album, HEX, this is the band’s first single. There is a subtle melody at the beginning of this piece, and the melodies drift into heavier crescendos as we move through the composition.
The band prides itself on its catchy tunes and edgy lyrics that are sure to get stuck in your head all day long. If you want to check out more of their music, watch their music video and follow the band on Spotify!
7) TOUGH ON FRIDAYS – Lush (Reimagined)
If you’re looking for a new pop-rock band to add to your playlists, look no further than TOUGH ON FRIDAYS. They released a new single called Lush (Reimagined).
It’s a 90’s inspired alt-rock song that is super catchy and will get stuck in your head for days. The band has been compared to the likes of Paramore, Basement, and even Courtney Love.
The band’s latest single, Lush (Reimagined), is a breath of fresh air in the indie rock scene. The song is super catchy, with an upbeat tempo that makes you want to get up and dance. But it also has some serious depth, as evidenced by the lead singer’s amazing and emotional vocals.
TOUGH ON FRIDAYS is a band based in the United States, Georgetown and their American rock influences are extensive. If you’re into alternative (a little bit emo) pop rock then I suggest checking out this band! Follow them on Spotify and keep up with their future releases.
8) PETE SAHAIDACHNY – Voice In Your Heart
Pete Sahaidachny is a rock artist based in San Rafael, California. His single “Voice In Your Heart” is a soft rock love song that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
It’s not just his sound that’s unique, though—it’s also the way the vocal and backing vocals are delivered. A very nice and dreamy harmony that we just loved.
Their single is a tribute to the best of the genre. It’s got that classic sound that only comes from decades of rock influences, and it’s sure to bring back memories of your favourite bands from the 70s and 80s.
If you’re looking for some new indie rock to add to your playlist, check out Pete Saidachny today and follow him on his Social Networks!
9) JOYCE TRATNYEK – Listening Listening
If you’re looking for a new noise rock artist to add to your playlist, JOYCE TRATNYEK is a great option. The Portland-based artist just released her single “Listening Listening,” and it’s the perfect song to get you through your day, whether you’re in a good mood or not.
Joyce Tratnyek’s music has been described as alternative noise rock, with a psychedelic vibe, but also brings some shoegaze, stoner rock and synth effects. Its guitar-washed-out style of music is something that’s easy to get lost in—but not so much that it feels like you’re losing yourself. Instead, the listener gets drawn into the soundscape and feels like they’re literally living inside of it.
The song itself is dreamy and ethereal; it kind of feels like going to another dimension. It has a driving beat that propels it forward but doesn’t overwhelm the listener with too much percussion or anything else that might interfere with one’s enjoyment of Joyce’s voice. Check it out and follow the artist on Spotify!
10) PIDGIE – Just Breathe
This one deserved a whole article about it. It’s a true piece of art! If you’re a fan of pop-rock music and looking for some new artists to add to your playlists, check out PIDGIE.
The artist is based in Boston, United States and has just released her first album called Just Breathe. If you love classic rock with a pop twist, this is the album for you!
The lead singer is a female vocalist who has an 80’s vibe that is both soft and powerful—a rare combination that makes her stand out. The 12 songs have been described as “melodic” and “catchy,” which is exactly what you want from a good pop rock song.
Pidgie has got some great tracks on this album—some are heavier than others, but each one will get stuck in your head after listening to it once or twice. You’ll find yourself singing along with the band before long!
Of the twelve tracks, Kick Ass Boots is the funniest and our favourite, and to make us even more impressed, the singer lives with a physical disability and still manages to represent rock n roll in great style. Check it out and follow her on Spotify.
