Music is an important part of our lives. We spend hours listening to it and we dedicate large spaces on our devices to playing it. However, when was the last time you turned on a new genre? Have you ever listened to indie folk music?
The indie folk music scene is an important part of the music industry. Anybody can technically make and release their own music and present it to the world. While it is not exactly easy, it is much easier than before.
With social media, independent musicians are now able to showcase the real-time reactions of listeners who seem to connect with their songs and more often than not, the responses are positive.
One thing that indie folk musicians do well is that they seem to understand, appeal and find a way to connect with several generations of listeners from all walks of life. That’s why you should know more about this music genre.
I heard before between producers from PopHits.Co something interesting:
“Often, when we think of music we love, folk music isn’t the first genre that comes to mind. Perhaps it should, times have changed, and folk music has now evolved into something like fashion because it’s nostalgic, and there is so much emotional connection to it that it’s hard to find in other genres. There is a lot of nostalgia among the young generation at the moment, which means indie folk artists must tap into it and ride the wave.”

Folk music has a reputation for being complex and sophisticated, and hipsters have been known to appreciate this type of music. However, indie folk artists are trying to change the perception of folk music by making it more fun and interactive, and it’s working very well.

2) PERRY LOCKWOOD – All I Need Is You
Indie artist Perry Lockwood is releasing his new single “All I Need Is You” this summer. The track is a soulful, classic soft rock anthem with a male vocalist and a traditional sound. It’s also got some indie folk elements that make it unique.
The song begins with a guitar melody that wouldn’t be out of place on an album by Mumford & Sons or The Lumineers, but then it quickly transitions into a soft-rock melody that wouldn’t sound out of place on a classic rock album by Tom Petty or Bruce Springsteen.
Do you know that nice feeling that a mix of music styles can cause? That’s the case here, everything sounds very country-folk and is very enjoyable.
The vocals are smooth and soulful as they belt out lyrics about love and relationships. It’s an anthem that reminds us that we don’t need much to be happy—just love and companionship.
