There’s a lot of indie rock music around. There are dozens and dozens of artists trying to get their fix. These are a few standouts, check them out!
Before we started to write this article, we spent a good amount of time listening to a ton of new indie rock releases sent by producers from PopHits.Co in order to give them a review as well as spread the word. Here we go!
Some are absolutely explosive and uplifting, while others are a true hint of peace. It’s not our intention to brag but we must admit that we know what we’re talking about when it comes to the latest in indie music.
TopMusic.News is our choice for new indie music and even though many others are trying their hardest to put out the most amazing songs possible (we do like their work too), there is no website that has the variety of artists, gigs and shows as well as new album updates like it does.
Well, in fact, you’d be surprised at how much talent comes from this industry and how many terrific indie rock songs there are out there. Not for nothing is this genre gaining so much ground: after all, it’s got some splendid works.
Because of the huge number of new releases every day, you may be unsure whether the indie rock music industry has any music worth listening to.
You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about their work by scrolling down the page.
1) WOLFSHIRT – Wolfshirt EP
If you’re looking for something new and different, give this EP a listen. It’s an indie rock release by US-based independent band WOLFSHIRT. The EP is called Wolfshirt, and it’s an interesting blend of punk metal, post-hardcore, punk rock, and anthemic vocals.
A lot of the songs on this 4-track collection have a very angry vibe, and edgy sound—a male vocalist singing in a hard rock style that is super intense and emotional. Their music itself is also pretty intense: it has a lot of drumming and electric guitar playing, and it sounds like you are at home but feeling in the middle of a heavy metal band concert.
The EP starts off with “Wake,” which begins slow, more instrumental, but quickly builds into what sounds like an anthem for anyone who’s ever been mistreated by society and is starting a revolution.
The next song on the EP is called “Dive” and is also good, but our favourite is “Slice”, which features some really awesome drums and bass playing throughout the whole song—it sounds almost like it’s going to explode at any moment, but there is a surprise, in the middle this punk-rock song they were able to make us feel peace! If you are curious, check it out and follow the band on Spotify.
2) NANTOKANARU – Emotional Damage Wreckage
The Czech Republic-based band NANTOKANARU released their EP, Emotional Damage Wreckage, some weeks ago. The three-track EP showcases the group’s ability to create an emotional atmosphere with their rock music.
If you’re looking for alternative rock with a hint of post-hardcore and prog rock influences, this is a good place to start. There are some Asian influences in the first track “Omatsuri”, sonorous and visual, and the other two tracks are in English. Our favourite track is Emotional Damage Wreckage which has a commercial rock style and could be on the radio for sure.
The vocals have a high-pitched quality that gives them an almost raspy feel, but they are also somewhat ethereal and soothing at times, especially in the track In The Light.
The guitars are distorted in some parts but not overly so—they add texture and provide a solid backbone for the other instruments on each track. The drums don’t overpower any of the other sounds either—they’re simple yet powerful when necessary.
In fact, every instrument seems perfectly placed within each song; there isn’t anything out of place or unnecessary here at all! This makes for an extremely cohesive listening experience that will keep you coming back for more. Check it out, watch their music video and follow the band on Spotify.
3) KIERON MICHAEL HEAVENS – Wembley
London-based indie rock singer-songwriter Kieron Michael Heavens has released his single Wembley, a melodic pop rock track that showcases the young artist’s classic sound and youthful rebel style.
The song is reminiscent of the late 90s when bands like Coldplay and Travis were dominating the charts with their catchy tunes and energetic performances. As a result, Wembley will probably be one of those songs that you’ll find yourself humming along to in your head for days.
With an easy listening style and a classic sound, the track has already been gaining attention not only in London, where it has gained more popularity among listeners but internationally too.
The song Wembley is for listeners of all ages. This means that if you’re looking for some new music to add to your playlist or just want something upbeat but still easygoing for background noise, then Kieron Michael Heavens’ latest release is definitely worth checking out, and follow the artist on Spotify!
4) ONE STONE – Am I The First
One Stone is the name of a Japanese indie rock band based in Tokyo, and their new single Am I The First is the perfect song for anyone who loves hard rock, noise rock, alternative rock music, heavy metal, and everything very rock.
The band has a simple but effective sound: loud guitars, lots of distortion and feedback and an occasional vocal harmony to give things some depth.
The male vocals are great, no screamings this time! The lyrics are simple too but they work well with the music. And in the middle, well you will love the heavy metal guitar riffs.
Am I The First is a great track to lift up your mood or as part of a playlist that includes heavy metal. If you’re into this kind of music then check it out, watch their music video and follow the band on Spotify!
5) SLOW DOWN SONIC – For You
Slow Down Sonic is back, and they’ve got something to say. The Australian indie-rock band has released a new single called “For You,” and it’s a catchy, anthemic blend of alt-rock, pop, emo rock, hard rock, and pop-punk that’ll have you singing along in no time. The producers of PopHits.Co defined this track as the best indie rock song on the list. Well, these guys deserve it!
The song starts out with a resonant melodic appealing guitar before segueing into a quick drum beat that propels the lyrics forward. And then there are those vocals—mixed with just the right amount of reverb to make them sound like they’re coming from somewhere far away—that is sure to hook you in no matter what your taste in music is.
While Slow Down Sonic might be new to some listeners (they only started releasing music on Spotify in 2022), they’re already known for their diverse sound and ability to craft beautiful rock sound and everything else in between.
If you haven’t heard them before now but would like to see what all the fuss is about, check out “For You” and follow the band on Spotify!
6) CHRIS CONSIDINE – Force Of Nature
The new single from CHRIS CONSIDINE, Force Of Nature, is a melodic pop rock track that will give you chills. The song is like a power pop ballad that’s been remixed with the vocals of a singer-songwriter.
Chris Considine’s vocals are smooth and powerful, mainly emotional as he sings about being broken by self-love, anxiety, lies, and relationships. The song has a New Wave vibe to it, but pop-rock vibes most of the time.
“The catastrophism that some experience with anxiety is so bad that it trumps all logic and reason. This song is a plea to take a deep breath and to not let your bad thoughts win.”
The instrumentation is pretty simple: an electric guitar riff that repeats throughout the song and drums in the chorus. The simplicity of the arrangement works well with the style of music because it allows for focus on the lyrics and vocals.
Overall, this is a great song from CHRIS CONSIDINE and I’m sure many people will love it! Check out more of his work by following him on Spotify!
7) GLENN VALLES – I Can’t
Glenn Valles‘ new single, “I Can’t,” is as classic as it gets. The singer-songwriter combines soft rock with elements of classic rock to create a song that is perfect for a love songs playlist. From the first note to the last, you’ll be transported to a time when music was simple and beautiful and the only thing that mattered was how much you felt it in your bones. It’s a pure 80s pop rock vibe.
I Can’t was Broadjam’s Song of the Month for May 2022 after the song ratings were tallied. Valles’ has more than a dozen International Songwriting Awards under his belt, spanning various genres and has been a Broadjam member since 2009.
Please check out his portfolio to see a list of his many accomplishments, he deserves it. With a timeless theme: Love, I Can’t is a Rock-Easy Listening track. A lot of the vocal performance, chord progressions, and general style remind us of great ’80s rock ballads by acts like Tesla, Warrant and Skid Row. Check it out, watch the music video and follow the artist on Spotify!
8) PAUL VINSON – Keep Up
If you’re looking for an easy listening, classic sound, singer-songwriter love song with a soft rock vibe and folk influences, check out Paul Vinson‘s new single Keep Up.
The track has a classic sound that draws inspiration from folk music and features Paul’s soothing vocals over an acoustic guitar. It has pop vibes that make it easy to listen to and sing along with.
The lyrics fumble through fragmented thoughts and feelings of existential and religious trauma. It’s the result of a hard time after a friend’s suicide that caused a significant impact on the singer’s life.
Paul Vinson is based in Nashville, TN in the United States. the country influences are everywhere and we just loved it, think of a pop country with a great youthful vibe. We loved it!

9) RONALD MACDONALD – It Happens Every Day
Ronald MacDonald is a singer-songwriter who hails from Portree, Scotland. He recently released his new single “It Happens Every Day,” which has all the makings of an instant classic. This song is a balance of the different styles that we experimented with, such as post-punk, pop rock, and heavy metal, but it is a track that you can listen to all day, just relax and enjoy it.
The song is full of UK rock influences, blended with soft rock and believe me, jazz. Sounds uncommon but give it a try, we just loved it. It’s got a classic peaceful sound that brings to mind artists like Elton John and Phil Collins. And it features both male and female vocals, which helps it stand out from other tracks in this genre.
“It Happens Every Day” has a Scottish soul-rock feel that will make you want to put on your best dancing shoes and get down!
MacDonald’s will take you back to the 80s. The vocals are soulful, and the music is soft rock. It’s a great listen for any time of day. If you like soul rock with 80s vibes and relaxing melody, then this is definitely something you’ll want to check out! Make sure you follow the artist on Spotify.
10) DEEP DIVE SPECIES – One Hand Clap
I’m always on the lookout for new experimental artists and albums to listen to, so when I heard about DEEP DIVE SPECIES, I decided to give them a try to explore another rock subgenre.
One Hand Clap is a shoegaze rock song by the band. It has elements of psychedelic rock and electronic features. It’s experimental in terms of effects, and got a trip-hop style, if you don’t know the sub-genre you can check the band Sigur-Ros.
In the results, it is evident that cinematic influences have been incorporated. Whether you want to relax after a long day or work with video productions, the song would be an amazing soundtrack to transport the viewer into another dimension.
It’s clear that DEEP DIVE SPECIES has a lot of talent as a band as well as a producer. They have a lot of different styles under their belt which makes them versatile and interesting to listen to.
